12/1/24, 1:51p
yeah sorry october was a slammed month of doing a million other things for me. (this is pretty normal.) so heres your october/november mixed edition of music roundup everybody. note: there also wasnt a lot happening in november music wise
jamie paige - constant companions album
a vocasynth album from producer jamie page, 1/4th of
flavor folley who produced butcher vanity and the producer who made cadmium colors by teto! this is probably my first ever vocasynth full album review so hey. cadmium colors already has a review on here (i loved it) so moving swiftly onwards, i think my favorite tracks are
rot for clout,
aggrandicize, and
machine love.
the usage of GUMI SV and v6 are amazing in this album; so is teto synthV version, which cements my thoughts that jamie paige is
masterful at tuning teto and gumi for english. the lyrics are genuinely fucking masterful and i think she's probably a cornerstone of a modern english vocasynth producer world that actually makes radio worthy pop songs in the same vein that a lot of japanese vocasynth producers do.
i wish that i could fall really invokes some nostalgia in me for 2011-2012 vocaloid culture, specifically; this song deserves to do numbers like just be friends and deep-sea girl did back in the day™.
i think the first two songs on this album are probably the weakest, actually, tuning-wise and backing-wise. but its more than made up for it because almost every song starting from rot for clout hits incredibly fucking hard and the tuning is completely on point after that. the usage of samples in this also kind of harkens glass animals' iconic
htbahb sound in points; the opening of
object of affection really reminded me of it specifically. this is honestly overall a solid 9/10 album and probably an instant recommendation for folks looking to get into the english vocasynth scene as a launchpoint; easily part of my new recommendations alongside the likes of GHOST&Pals' works.
DECO*27 ft. hatsune miku - monitoring
a good deco*27 song has hit 2024. if youve been following the ongoing saga you know how baffled ive been with deco*27s recent production, going so far as to be the first and hopefully last time i legitimately say with no sarcasm that all of a producers recent songs sound like the same song. therefore, it brings me great joy to say monitoring is a fucking SLAPPER and is the first deco*27 song ive heard all year that really feels like their old music. great miku tuning, a good beat, generally pretty catchy; weve done it, folks. 8/10.
32ki ft. hatsune miku & kasane teto - obsolete meat
sorry i didnt mean for this to be all vocasynth but all the new stuff ive managed to listen to in the past two months that i can remember is vocasynth. this is the same producer as mesmerizer, but imo this shows GREAT improvement and dare i say it takes what they did with mesmerizer and does it better? the tuning and pitch for miku and teto in this song are MUCH better than mesmerizer; the slower pace helps with that, i think, since some of the chorus notes definitely get into the original complaint i had. but on the whole i find obsolete meat to be more catchy and listenable than mesmerizer. i am honestly observing 32ki with great interest. (this is the month of producer redemption arcs ig in the MC.c turntables cinematic universe /joke) 8/10
