sun break

father, forgive me;
though i have strayed from the path
of a golden badge, a ray of sun,
apollo’s arrows have struck me senseless.
i watch the curve of his smile,
radiant, protective
outstretched to the sun like a flower.
i love him so.
i cannot defend the accused;
i must argue, ever-faithful, to the future
for i know he will reveal the truth.

we will hum merriment together,
murmuring and bickering with love and fondness.
the sun streams through our open window,
and i watch him sway joyfully.
i love him so;
could anyone not?
would anyone find me guilty,
and not be overcome by jealousy, instead?
his excitement glows
and his convictions never waiver.

oh, forgive me; i cannot be swayed
i love him, so much i am overcome;
how i long to hold him,
arms resting around his waist,
watching his content gaze, dancing for an audience of two.
smiling tenderly,
i rest my case.
