review: dark mantle tentacle by wanderingbardtoys

oh great DV is reviewing another WBT toy what a surprise. is anyone really shocked that a known therian, furry, and trans dude has a thing for tentacles. wanderingbardtoys' dark mantle tentacle basically caught my eye as soon as i found it and was next up on the list after astarion for me to grab.

DURABILITY RATING: 4.5/5 (i do not fear ripping this toy)

SIZE: XS (6.25" insertable length, 4" - 5.6" ~ range of circum)

after missing the original pour drop i wanted (the underdark themed pour, in which it was poured in drow colors... drool), i locked the fuck in when i saw the next drop they were doing also had dark mantle T in 00-30. i know they did another drow themed drop in 00-31 NC, but... i really do not like firmer silicone than 00-30, so wait i had to. the dark mantle tentacle i obtained is in the pour colorway soft cactus flower! i really love the neon green tip on this, it looks fucking radioactive.

funny aside: this thing is so long even in XS it barely fits WBT's small bags! they aren't fucking around with this bad boy.

in use:

gods damn this thing is long. that was like, my very first thought on it. this guy is juuuust barely pushing towards the end of my comfort level and ability to take length - if i'm real rough with it, i can feel the very tip poke my cervix. i honestly do kind of love this as someone who otherwise doesn't really like that specific pain in sex because it fits the fantasy of, y'know, getting fucked by tentacles really well, but it runs into difficulties for me that i'll talk about later.

despite the circumference range, i don't really notice it in use - the taper and curves do wonders for ease of insertion. dark mantle tentacle is a long toy that i would classify as "very low textured", and has a very slim, tapered tip with multiple very sharp curves that get progressively more girthier down to the base. the fact this isn't a straight insertable but incredibly wavy and curvy makes it feel VERY differently at every angle, as well as helps the insertion stay easy and consistent despite the massive girth range.

i will say to not be fooled by the suckers: this is veeeeeeery low texture in use IMO, even with no lube. that being said, i *really* don't mind that! the curves and length alongside the slight texture do a fantastic job at hitting different buttons in me with ease, and turning it either in use or just to new angles before thrusting is incredibly satisfying at fufilling the fantasies of a tentacle prodding around in you. it also takes lube in a specific way that i can literally only describe as "Wet" - something about the finish on it makes it slicker than most other insertables i have. again, great for the model and fantasy.

my husband really enjoys frotting on the suckers side of dark mantle t, and i have to agree - the low texture is actually fantastic for external stimulation, even for someone like me who doesn't really prefer tdick stimulation as much as penetration. lowkey i think a dark mantle themed mini-stroker with that texture would actually do gangbusters. at the very least, DM-T is his preferred favorite so far of my collection because of that!

additionally, this toy has the honor of frotting against the suckers has actually made me cum; again, i don't reaaaally enjoy tdick stimulation nearly as much as penetration, so its a high benchmark to hit!

i really enjoy taking this one from behind especially; this is another one that graduated to shower usage and i can happily verify this thing has the same incredibly durable suction cup that my astarion model has. i also find this one a lot easier to use mounted on a wall because the dramatic curves and waves stay in a lot easier at faster speeds, although i still move it a lot because. well. short. user error is NOT a knock on this thing.

also, despite the fact this thing's circumference bottoms out at bigger than my mind flayer, the tapered tip is such an easy insertion with no warmup that much like neotori's finn i often reach for DM-T when i want to be lazy and not prep or warm up at all. i honestly keep forgetting the base circ is 5.25"! it really is just that easy to take. the length is the bigger challenge in bottoming out on this for me, since if i'm completely brainless, i have like a 40% chance to accidentally hit a little too hard lmao.

i'd advise others to be aware that the tip can be kind of "sharp" against the cervix - not in a literal way, but it's VERY pointed. this actually does sort of inhibit how i enjoy it the more and more i've tested it, since i prefer rougher sex and going really rough with this has a really bad tendency to stab my fucking cervix in an unpleasant way a little too much remarkably consistently. it's also a bit of a problem with paired play, especially - it's hard enough for *me* to not stab myself, let alone someone else who can't immediately gauge fun pain vs unpleasant pain, which hitting my cervix tends to fall into the latter more than the former.

both of these situations kinda kills the mood for me and makes it kind of a restart point; i have a bit of trouble consistently cumming with this because of the high variance of length i can take on a given night - and unfortunately, the first half of the dildo is a bit too slender for reliability for me. it feels great when i do cum on it, but getting there is a bit of an interesting puzzle - i tend to save it for high fantasy nights rather than regular use. i find it a lot easier to get off when i'm in a Tentacle Mood that way.

overall:

i reaaaaaaaally enjoy DM-T; it's fun to cum on, it has a lot of versatility, the fantasy is fucking impeccable, and it has a good balance of length to width. definitely a great tentacle option if you want something a little less plainer than other fantasy tentacle toys! just be aware of how deep you can take an insertable when you size this one.

♡ slender width means that since i can't bottom out on it reliably, it's a bit inconsistent performing for me
