a build-a-bear review: sir chococat, 2024

it's that time again readers! my fiance bought me the BAB 2024 release chococat for yule 😊 he's been my current emotional support cat plush since he brought him down for samhain and you know what that means!
construction
fabric type: soft, feathery-adjacent; i think the best description i have is like, those soft, slightly furry, very silky old scarves you find sometimes.
stitching: very good! like fuecoco, no problems here; no holes, no seams splitting, nothing. which is good because he is Firm Stuffed.
he's soooooooo softttttt idk how to describe him. he has the softest fur of any BAB i've ever touched and i mean genuinely soft not that gross weird sherpa bullshit. he literally feels like feathers! HE'S SO SOFT!! he's softer than halloween kuromi by like leaps and bounds, and he's NOT minky like fuecoco and mimikyu. i keep burying my face on his head because the texture is so good...
the eyes are a very pleasant embroidery, like fuecoco's; his whiskers are the same stiff felt as fuecoco's 'flame', so it's pretty scratchy. UNLIKE fuecoco though since it's two small pieces on each side of his face i hardly ever brush against the felt so 10/10 on the sensory experience. (considering pepper is my cuddle buddy around the house and when sleeping this is also high praise for both of them!)
he is very cuddly and perfect sized to sit between me and my laptop, like a true cat. i'm a very big sanrio fan and chococat has been my fave sanrio since i was a kid (my other favorite is kuromi. to nobody's surprise.) so i'm really happy they did an updated re-release for chococat this year!! he has gone around town with me more than pepper since pepper is too chonky to fit in my bear carrier backpack. they really should make an oversized one for the pokemon BABs... :I
as you can see chococat has a hoodie to go with me! it sort of covers up his little blue collar which is made of the same wonderful fabric as he is but he's also now warm :) he fits in most backpacks and bear-riers, which makes sense, as he is a cat. if it fits he sits. he enjoys a delicious hot choccy with me and may dislike water more than pepper does, which is fair. i keep calling him jiji so officially his full name is jiji chococat. :)

2 switches tall; he towers over my emotional support pokemon! however he is only
half a switch wide at best. halloween kuromi is very similar dimensions so i assume this is the standard for all build-a-bear sanrios.
i highly recommend getting 2024 chococat; he's just better designed than the OG chococat imo and very, very soft. he sits with pepper on my bed area now and tends to come with me when i can't carry around a fuecoco in my arms and need to be doing things sometimes. i hope he gets a halloween variant next year!
