welcome to the final music roundup of 2024! im actually very happy ive managed to put out [semi] consistantly a bunch of random informal music reviews of random stuff ive been listening to :) MC.c's turntables has had a great 6 months of life so far!
TWICE ft. megan thee stallion -- strategy
my husband brought this to me as the crossover of the fucking century when it dropped. honestly good for megan thee stallion she seems to be living her best life w/ collabs lately? but holy shit this song fucking bangs. i am NOT a big kpop person like i dont know the culture super well thats my husbands field but i will say: insanely good english song. megan thee stallion spits fucking BARS i swear to god i am a big fan of many of her singles. and this song has a really distinctly boygroup sound but specifically gen 2 (i think? suju, SHINee, BIGBANG, etc) (This is the only kpop period i have ever been into and the only group i have ever actively followed has been SHINee sorry everybody) and its really, really refreshing having faintly asborbed many other girlgroup singles this year through luis's radio playlists in his car. 9/10 god damn
taylor swift -- the tortured poets department
sorry. even though my era of being a swiftie is long past i orbit enough swifties in my twitch social life that when this crossed my radar it piqued my interest severely. dare i say it -- lo-fi folk pop is literally Her Sound and ttpd is literally the best album shes put out in years?
Note: i am not reviewing the anthology. everybody loves double albums (i love double albums) and i will listen to side d/c at some point but im reviewing the 16-song og. thank you for valuing my time as much as i do
anyways yeah lo-fi folk is honestly her sound im glad shes found it finally? if she becomes a preppier female hozier OR a florence and the machine-style lo-fi folk i think that is a win for humanity as a whole tbh. i did actually like midnights so my swiftie opinion basically was "everything after speak now [album] and before midnights [album] kind of fucking sucked" and then midnights was like oh hold on let her cook. ttpd is a fully realized sound that i enjoy and, well, i will cautiously observe your career with great interest. i have been made aware this album is apparently a bit of a base-breaking album and in that way i think weve truly come full circle back to
red - that was a base-breaking album into her (imo unfitting) debut into pop. now weve reversed courses as she settles into a very good sound for her but people got used to the pure poppiness. the swiftabouros, even
anyways fave song is probably the albums title song
the tortured poets department but
florida!!! with the random fucking fatm guest is REALLY high up there too. 8.5/10

its my music review and im putting whatever the fuck i want on it ok? heres my thoughts on dsotm:
i think dsotm is a better
album, but i like the sound of
the wall's full length songs vastly more. idk. i get why dsotm is iconic and i actually do like it quite a lot but i wish the wall was less of a 'story album' and more of a produced album like dsotm, with less like. filler songs. i do not like filler songs that much. i think the best use of them is 1-2 an album, and my favorite usage of them will remain
my chemical romance's discography -
look alive, sunshine /
na na na and
the end /
dead! is like two of the most iconic filler song to full song transitions of all time and i love them dearly. the thing
dsotm has over
the wall is that it has very, very few filler songs.
my favorite song is probably
brain damage, i also really like
eclipse. i do want this vinyl alongside
the wall but i think in general a full album listening experience i prefer this one more. its just that the wall has a lot of good songs in between the storytelling instrumentals and fills and dsotm has some good songs and then its over. like, i like
another brick in the wall pt 2 more than
brain damage yk? its a good fucking album just go listen to them and then think about the musical differences ok? its just, its pink floyd. its good. theres instrumentals and synths and long fills. if you like more random instrumental 1 minute songs you might like the style of
the wall more as a whole album. i think
the wall is better sounding but
dsotm is a better cohesive album. pink floyd/10
