MCc's turntables, september 2024 edition

9/28/24, 3:16p

hello again its that time! welcome back to the september music monthly roundup, now officially going under the working title of MCc's turntables. for now™.

i have been like honestly very busy between baseball games and healthcare stuff and work etc and also just genuinely not a lot of music has been listened to this month. but Some Music has been. let us discuss.

will stetson ft. rachie -- mesmerizer (OFFICIAL ENG. VERSION)

youtube || release: 7/14/24

my friend forest sent me this via fedi actually after my previous music roundup expressed bewilderment and disappointment with how lackluster mesmerizer was compared to the hype it garnered. honestly, this has become a rare but not unheard of case where i prefer an english cover to the og song, and this one has the bonus benefit of being official!

honestly i think the biggest thing this has going for it is that it isnt pitched to the near top of miku and teto's pitchranges. i have discussed a few times now that i dont actually enjoy overtuning in the way of "make miku/etc as high pitched as is physically possible with their programming", and i dont think it adds to the vocasynth aesthetic it just sounds bad. this cover ranking much, much higher in my internal rankings list confirms that i really think the og needs like a kaito cover or a properly tuned teto cover and i would be the happiest zoroark on the planet ngl.

official eng version of mesmerizer rises to a like 7.5/10 in my world; will stetson has a god damn good vocal range btw, and the unabashed DELIGHT that filled me to find out rachie is still doing vocasynth eng covers is an unmeasurable amount lmao

now or never seven! - three wishes

youtube || release: 9/14/24 (ingame)

you: this is a video game song sung by fictional idols.

me: its my music roundup.

im using this spot to 1: talk about what a fucking banger 3 wishes is it made me genuinely emotional to hear and 2: holy shit blushing tide is such a good remix of tidal rush from splat2. also rainbow color inkantation is genuinely a banger i saw people saying it was the first bad sampling of ebb and flow and those people are WRONG it was the only reason i survived playing any tricolor at all on grandfest. anyways go listen to 3 wishes and THEN go listen to blushing tide because i literally screamed at the top of my fucking lungs when it first played ingame

pink floyd - the wall

spotify || release: 11/30/1979

vinny vinesauce once said "the wall is an underrated pink floyd album" and i agree now that ive fully listened to it. another brick in the wall pt 2 has been stuck in my head for three days, but also? hey you & comfortably numb are fucking slappers too. i can hear the influence in later red vox albums for sure, specifically visions/afterthoughts and realign.

9/10 highly recommend

dio - holy diver

spotify || release: 1983

sorry that half this music roundup is shit from the 80s but its my music roundup and this is what ive been listening to recently. anyways: dio is good. this should not be a surprise. but to be so real the holy diver album is the dio album ive been listening front to back recently and ill probably pick up the vinyl version of it at some point. rainbow in the dark and caught in the middle are my favorites besides the title track!

the last in line is the other dio album ive been listening to front to back btw. maybe ill toss that on my next music roundup. shrug

thats all for this month! in unmusic related news i added a status for microblogging and also ill be trying to make some other small blog posts more, i might do one on my battle vest im working on. also look out for a blog post on 3ds cases because idc if anyone else thinks its cool i just found a sun/moon era 3ds xl case that includes a wrist strap a la old ds lite cases and im overjoyed. (does the sarcastic salute pose from splatoon 3)
